Deleting your Hetki account

Hetki is a private photo journal. If you no longer want it, you can take your journal with you and remove the account entirely. Neither costs anything and neither requires asking permission.
Take a copy first
Open Hetki, go to Profile, and tap Export my data.
You get a single file containing every moment you have written, every photograph, and every reflection — in ordinary formats that open without Hetki. Choose where it goes: your Drive, your own email, a cable to your computer. Nothing is uploaded anywhere on your behalf.
Do this before deleting. Once the account is gone there is nothing left to export.
If you only want to delete one moment
You do not have to delete the account to remove something from it. Any single moment can go on its own, and so can any reflection.
Open the moment and tap Delete. Hetki asks Delete this moment? and, when you confirm, it leaves your journal straight away — gone from the Calendar, gone from Home, and absent from any reflection written afterwards.
A reflection you already have keeps its own copy. When Hetki weaves a reflection it takes a copy of each moment it used: the day, the story, and the cover photograph. That is so a piece you have read, exported or shared does not quietly change afterwards. Deleting the moment does not reach back into it.
Those copies live inside the reflection and nowhere else. They are never used to rebuild your journal, they are not in the Calendar or on Home, and deleting the reflection deletes them — with the same thirty days that everything else gets.
For thirty days it sits in Recently deleted, in Profile. That window exists for one reason: a moment is somebody’s memory, and a mis-tapped button should not be the end of it. You can restore it from there at any point during those thirty days, photographs and words intact. On the thirtieth day it is permanently removed — from your phone and from the server — and after that it cannot be recovered by you or by anyone else.
If you would rather not wait, you can delete something from Recently deleted yourself. Hetki asks once — Delete permanently? — and then it is gone immediately.
Nothing here needs to be requested from anybody. It is all in the app, and none of it requires an email or a reply.
Delete the account from inside the app
Open Hetki, go to Profile, and tap Delete account.
You will be shown exactly what will be removed and asked to type a word to confirm. Nothing is deleted until you do.
Delete the account by email
If you cannot open the app — you changed phones, or the app will not start — write to hello@hetki.app from the email address on the account, with the subject Delete my account.
We will confirm the request, delete the account, and tell you when it is done. If the address you write from is not the one on the account, we may ask something only the account holder would know. That is to stop someone else deleting your journal, not to make it hard for you.
Requests are answered within 30 days, and in practice much sooner.
What is deleted
Everything, permanently:
- Every moment, and every photograph in it
- Every voice note and its transcript
- Every reflection Hetki has written for you
- Your email address, if you added one
- Your account itself, and your subscription record
This is immediate and it cannot be undone. The 30-day Recently deleted window that protects a mis-tapped moment does not apply here — when the account goes, it goes.
What is kept, and for how long
Nothing of your journal. No copy of a moment, a photograph, a voice note or a reflection is retained after deletion — including the copies a reflection holds of the moments it was woven from.
Two things do outlive the account, and only these:
- Payment records. If you ever subscribed, Google Play keeps the transaction record, and tax law requires that it be kept for several years. These sit with Google, not with Hetki, and contain the transaction — never anything you wrote.
- Security logs. Sign-in records, which hold a timestamp and an IP address and nothing else, are kept for up to 30 days and then removed.
Cancelling a subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription, and neither does uninstalling the app. Cancel it in the Play Store, under Subscriptions, before you delete the account.
